Pansori in Entirety Project Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater Dec. 17

The Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra joins contemporary choreographer Ryu Jang-hyun for the staging of “Let’s Go Again” at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Themed around “gut,” a Korean shamanistic ritual, the performance aims to think about the coexistence of nature and humanity through dance — an issue that has once again come into the spotlight amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Pansori in Entirety Project” centers on young pansori singers practicing to perform the traditional form of Korean musical storytelling. The upcoming performance at the Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater will be led by Jung Ji-hye singing “Heungboga,” one of five surviving pansori stories, which revolves around two brothers — a poor-butgood man Heungbu and rich, greedy Nolbu.
