JYP to host audition in Jan.

JYP Entertainment, a leading K-pop agency, is set to embark on its 18th official annual audition across five cities in Korea next January. The agency, home to global sensations like TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY and NMIXX, is on the lookout for the next wave of raw talent poised to make their mark in the K-pop industry.

The audition is set to commence in Daejeon on Jan. 13, making stops in Gwangju on Jan. 14, Busan on Jan. 20, Daegu on Jan. 21 and concluding in Seoul from Jan. 27-28. Successful applicants from the final round of auditions will be offered trainee contracts at the agency.

The series of open auditions follow the agency’s 17th public audition held in January 2023 and the “JYP THE NEXT WAVE” audition in August.

The allure of auditioning for JYP lies in its track record of producing K-pop icons. Notable figures such as 2PM’s Jang Woo-young, TWICE’s Nayeon and Jeongyeon, Stray Kids’ Seungmin and Xdinary Heroes’ Jungsu began their journeys through the agency’s public auditions.

“The application rate for the 17th open audition earlier this year, the first in three years, surged by approximately 40 percent compared to the 16th audition. Encouraged by the success of the 17th audition, we anticipate an even greater response for the upcoming 18th public audition,” the agency noted in an official press release.

Prospective talents can submit their applications through the official JYP audition site. Eligible candidates, born between 2006 and 2014, may showcase their skills in one of five categories: vocal, rap, dance, model or acting.
