LG Arts Center Seoul Oct. 20-22
The Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra is set to unveil the multimedia music drama, “Dionysus Robot,” this October, an enchanting fusion of traditional vocals and contemporary aesthetics. Having premiered at last year’s Tongyeong International Music Festival, the performance has garnered attention as it toured Europe, including Germany and Serbia. The inspiration for the piece stemmed from the artistic director Won Il’s reading of Nietzsche’s conceptualization of the Dionysian. Inspired by the philosopher’s assertion that the frenzied Dionysian drive can emotionally stir people, Won aims to revive such spirit at the concert through the sonic energy of the performers.
Tickets cost 40,000 won. Call 16610017 for more information.
