Suh Yongsun: My Name is Red Art Sonje Center Until Oct. 22

“My Name is Red” at Art Sonje Center reexamines artist Suh Yongsun’s oeuvre through more than 70 oil paintings ranging from the 1980s to today. For decades, Suh has devoted himself to exploring the essence of rapidly changing modernity in Korea through themes of people, cities and history. The show presents the painter within an alternative framework that goes beyond simply analyzing his depicted political and historical subjects on canvas and focuses on his aesthetic-centered, creative vision of “pictorial space.”
