Pinnacle of Propriety: The Uigwe, Records of the State Rites of the Joseon Dynasty

National Museum of Korea Until March 19, 2023

The National Museum of Korea presents 297 volumes of Oegyujanggak Uigwe, which documented important national rites during the 1392-1910 Joseon Kingdom, in celebration of the 10th year of their return from France. The royal volumes were looted by the French military in 1866 during their incursion, and were only discovered a century later by Korean French historian Park Byeong-seon at the National Library of France. In addition to the Oegyujanggak Uigwe, traditional ritual costumes, which were restored and are based on the books’ content, will also be on display.

Tickets cost from 3,000 won to 5,000 won. Call 1688-0361 for more information.
