‘The Nutcracker’ Seoul, Daejeon, Gunpo, Anseong Dec. 2-31

Schubert’s masterpiece “Winterreise” meets the veteran, first-generation dancer Nam Jung-ho’s choreography in an upcoming performance titled “Winterreise: Dear Time,” at the Seoul Arts Center. Staged by the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company, the performance, featuring the music of piano, accordion and bass, will take audiences on a wandering journey across a winter landscape.

“The Nutcracker,” the canonical Christmas masterpiece, returns this winter with performances led by the Universal Ballet in Seoul, Daejeon and two cities in Gyeonggi Province. The famous story starts with a girl named Clara who receives a nutcracker doll for Christmas. With Tchaikovsky’s famous pieces such as “Waltz of the Flowers” and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” the performance leads audiences to a magical fairyland full of toys and sweets.
